In light of my brother’s post yesterday, I wanted to share a method of praying that I learned long ago that I’m not sure is as commonly known as it probably could or should be. It helps to guide my prayers regularly.
P = Praise. We should start every prayer praising God no matter what is going on in our lives. Praise Him in our successes and praise Him in the midst of our struggles.
R = Repent. Invariably, there are areas of our lives that we need to ask for forgiveness. None of us are perfect as Romans 3:23 reminds us, so go to the Lord and get your heart right first.
A = Ask. Go to God and ask for whatever is on your heart. There is nothing that is too big or too trivial for God to be involved with. If it’s on your heart, ask.
Y = Yield. Sometimes we will get what we ask for and sometimes we won’t. In fact, sometimes, we will get the opposite of what we ask for. It doesn’t mean that God isn’t listening. No matter the outcome, we must yield to God’s will knowing that it is right no matter what.
Hope this helps you in your praying!
