One thing that is abundantly clear to me is my dire need for grace. I am constantly stumbling in my walk with the Lord. Many times, I stumble despite my best efforts.
Paul talks about this struggle in Romans 7. Starting with verse 15, he says, “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate to do.”
He goes on, but closes with this, “24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
If not for Jesus, grace does not exist. It is because of Him that we are able to find our way to heaven despite ourselves – despite our best efforts to sabotage our own lives.
Because grace is abundant, we are able to live freely. Not callously, but in freedom. Freedom that exists because of God’s grace that our sins have been forgiven.
Lord, I am thankful for your never ending grace that meets me where I am.
