I’ve found that as I’ve been writing this blog in particular, the devil has been eating at me. More temptations, more opportunities for anger, more disappointment.
Our lives of faith are not always roses. In fact, the closer we get to the Lord, the more that Satan is waiting for us, doing all he can to pull us further from God. We are “at risk” from his perspective because we’re not abiding by his rules. We are seeking God.
I’ve found this to be true – the closer I get to God, the more the devil seeks me out. So be vigilant. Be prepared. As the apostle Peter notes in 1 Peter 5:8,
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Don’t succumb. Pray for relief. As Paul states in 1 Corinthians 10 verse 13,
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Pray for the way out. Many times we know our way out, but refuse to take it. Don’t let that be you. Be a warrior.
