We were reading in Romans 3 and this part hit me over the head:
19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
It shows that the whole world is in fact accountable to God and his laws. Then it states that it truly is an unachievable standard. However, it’s because of this that it then allows us to be aware of our sin. We know we are imperfect, we therefore know we need grace and mercy from our father.
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
We are justified freely BY HIS GRACE…
28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
It is our faith not our perfect adherance to the law. However, we should be attempting perfection because that is what a person of faith truly does. And we should be grateful for the grace that we do not deserve.
