Come As You Are

Come As You Are

One of the common excuses to delay coming back to God, or back to church is, “I need to get my life together first.”

Exactly what does that mean?

The Lord does not need you to prepare yourself before coming to Him. He is already there for you; He always has been.

Isaiah 1:18 says, “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”

If you feel, for whatever reason, that you need to get yourself together, you must realize first and foremost that you are already freely forgiven.

Call on God and He will answer you, just as you are. There is hope.

As David Crowder sings in Come As You Are:

Come out of sadness
From wherever you’ve been
Come broken hearted
Let rescue begin
Come find your mercy
Oh sinner come kneel
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You’re not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are
